Kaleideum Downtown (formerly The Children’s Museum of Winston-Salem) was conceived by the Junior League of Winston-Salem as its 75th anniversary gift to the community. The Museum opened its doors on November 20, 2004, with the mission of creating a compelling destination for the community to play and learn by experiencing literature, storytelling, and the arts. Interactive exhibits include: a climbing lobby, where kids can scramble and crawl over wavy platforms; an enchanted forest village of fairy tales, folklore and fantasy; the child-size Krispy Kreme doughnut factory; and an art studio for kids and families to explore art together.
The museum is typically open Tuesday-Sunday for the general public with Monday’s reserved for museum members only. Admission is around $7 per person for kids and adults alike.
