Wineries near Clemmons, NC

The Yadkin Valley, North Carolina’s first American Viticultural Area, includes land in seven counties, including Forsyth, which is home to Clemmons. There are numerous wineries within a 20-mile radius of Clemmons. Several of the wineries and vineyards offer on-site restaurants, tastings, tours, music festivals, and harvest festivals. The majority of vines here are Vitis vinifera, with wineries finding the greatest success with Chardonnay, Riesling, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot.

Chestnut Trail Vineyard began as the retirement project of John and Claudia Ellis, a movie studio musician/oboe teacher and a Peruvian Paso horse enthusiast. Now it’s a family operation with two of their six children and spouses joining them in their venture, along with many other family members’ support. Chestnut Trail Vineyard is about 15 miles south of Clemmons.

Flint Hill Vineyards is located on land that has been in the family for over one hundred years in East Bend, NC… about 15 miles north of Clemmons. The vineyard opened in October of 2005 and has five varietals: Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah (Synergy), Chambourcin, Viognier, and a Chardonnay.

Hanover Park Vineyard is in Yadkinville, about 17 miles west of Clemmons.

Located a quarter of a mile from North Carolina’s oldest winery, Westbend Vineyard, and 11 miles from Clemmons, Medaloni Cellars is a stop along the Yadkin Valley wine trail. Not only does Medaloni Cellars offer wine tastings and tours, but it is also a venue designed to host events such as weddings, family reunions, birthday parties and other entertainment events.

The vineyard and winery is an easy eight-mile drive from Clemmons.

One of the oldest operating wineries in North Carolina, Westbend Vineyards was established in 1972. The vineyard is spread over 40 acres of rolling hills in some of the most beautiful countryside within the Yadkin valley and is a mere 20 minute drive northwest from Clemmons. Recently revamped and opened by new owners, the Breathwit family, Westbend Winery & Brewery features several varieties of wines and beers handcrafted by Winemaker and Brewmaster, Ethan Brown.
